    Our newly designed, shallow 5 x 5 trays are made of heavy-duty, BPA- free, FDA-grade, polypropylene plastic. Ideal for small-batch microgreens, propagation projects, and more. These 5" x 5" inserts can be used for both soil and hydroponic applications.

    Please note: These do not fit well in our standard 1010 trays.  Since our 1010 trays are designed to fit two into a 1020, they are slightly smaller and do not fit four 5x5 trays precisely.

    • Can we place 4 x 5” trays in a 1010 Shallow?

      No, they 5x5s are designed to fit into a 1020 tray. (8) 5x5 trays will fit into (1) 1020 tray.

    • Are the 5x5s meant to be used together? (i.e. 5x5 with holes goes into 5x5 no holes for bottom watering).

      Yes they nest inside each other. You can also place 8 of the 5x5 trays in a shallow 1020.

    • Im new... So what does it mean "16 inserts"

      A 16 pack includes 16, 5x5 trays. This is enough to fill 2, 1020 trays.

    • Thanks for the article on using these 5x5 trays for seed starting (5X5 TRAYS FOR STARTING FLOWERS AND HERBS). In that article, what size pot is used for transplanting the seedlings into, after splitting the 5x5 tray into 6 chunks of seedlings?
