Our fabric grow bags are a great addition to your container garden.
Our fabric grow bags are made of breathable material to encourage root pruning. Standard non-porous pots cause your roots to circle around the pot, eventually suffocating itself. Root pruning encourages your roots to grow out to the edges of the pots, where they self-prune themselves. This leads to a strong and healthy root system. Shop all grow bags here.
You can also use any of our grow bags for soil or hydroponic applications both outdoors and indoors.
This is a great idea for any small space, including hydroponic systems, in-ground, greenhouses, your front porch, or deck. Easily folds up to be stored when not in use.

I am looking for a size, ( or two ). larger than this, something approximating an actual 5 gallon bucket. I see 'trade' gallons are not liquid gallons. Is there something larger ?
Our 5 gallon bags are now 5.3 liquid gallons. These may also be listed as 7 trade gallons from other suppliers.
when will you be getting the 5 gal in stock in the 5 pak.
We will be back in stock of the 5 pack 5 gallon grow bags at the end of July. We are in the middle of a small redesign to make the fabric thicker to provide a higher quality product. Sorry for the the inconveniance.
Can you use grow bags on the grass/ground? I’ve read the roots will grow through if they are on the ground.
Grow bags can be used both in ground and on grass. When placed in ground the roots will grow through the bag. Some people use this feature to be able to transplant without damaging the root ball or as a way to remove the plant later.
Grow bags placed on the ground will eventually grow roots down into soil. Placing a few layers of cardboard under the bag will suppress weeds and delay the grow through by a few years depending on the thickness of the cardboard.
What size would be best for potatoes?
For potatoes we generally recommened a 10 or 25 gallon grow bag.
Where are the grow bags made? If made in the US (or anywhere other than China), what is the origin of the material used to make the grow bags? And if they are made in China, what is the origin of the material used?? Thank you so much.
Our grow bags are currently manufactured in China. We are looking to move to the US in the near future and have been working with some manufacturers to try to make it economical to do so. For our grow bags we are currently using BPA free virgin plastic (not recycled) in the grow bags as it's the best way to ensure no contaminants.
I believe these bags are the best out there. I placed 2 orders and will order more.
BUT those ones only last a season sometimes. They feel like nice bags and it’s cool knowing they are at least a higher end BPA free plastic if you’re going to be using bags like this. So far the plants are stoked, I’ll circle back to lower the stars if they don’t stand the test of time, but they seem sturdy. I can hypothetically buy bags elsewhere, but I’d rather support Bootstrap who always has high quality products from my experience!
25 gallon grow bags, nice quality, so far easy to keep in moisture, home made compost / soil mix. Spuds are up fast and looking good. happy so far.
Study fabric, great handles, and perfect volume for my little greenhouse.
