Propagate all your new seedlings using Seedling Heat Mats to ensure the perfect environment for newly established root growth, plant cuttings, and germinating seeds. Heat mats are designed to reliably warm the root zone between 10-20˚F above ambient air temperature. Want to learn more about heat mats? Read this how-to article about how to use heat mats for seed starting.
Heat mats are a great tool to use for winter germination. Heat mats are waterproof and easy to clean, so there is no need to move plants off the mat during watering. The mat is designed to stay on 24hr/day. Ideally, you will want your soil temperature to stay consistently between 65˚F-80˚F.
For more precise temperature control these can be used with our digital heat mat temperature control.
Seeds love warm, moist environments during germination. Being able to provide those temperatures earlier in the spring means earlier tomatoes at the market. Want earlier pumpkins? They need to be at least 85˚F to germinate. Heat mats can provide those perfect conditions, increasing growth rates. Being able to cycle through propagation in nearly half the time may mean more crops end up in the ground. Seedling heat mats are also useful in microgreen production. Add heat mats into your production for more successful germination rates.

2 questions -- Where are these manufactured, and is the17 watts a per hour usage?
It is 17 watts per hour of continuous usage. All the materials are US based but some of the assembly is done in Mexico.
Everything I get from bootstrap works.... and I know they would make it right if it didn't.
This is the third SunPro heat met I've purchased from Bootstrap. All high quality; all get the seeds germinating. Highly recommended.
I ordered 2 of these in January 2024 hoping to have something ready to plant by May. This was my first time ever trying to use a heat mat. I found that they were extremely weak, whatever warmth they had was barely detectable to the touch and even when running 24/7 under my seed flats with domes, the surface of the medium remained ice cold. The area was mid-50s temps in the winter. Customer service did their best to be helpful and even sent me replacements in case the originals were malfunctioning, but they were exactly the same. I don't think there was a malfunction, I just think they don't work. Looking at reviews for similar products show similar experiences, but only if you skip the huge number of probably fake reviews and specifically look for the lower rated ones. You know those are honest, no manufacturer would give themselves a bad review. It's very hard to find actual honest reviews, most are sponsored or based on advertising and sales, but I did find a Reddit thread on this and most were recommending using a reptile terrarium heat mat and some just use a regular heating pad.
Excellent germination with this
